Project goals:

• Develop a payroll system for a 3500-employee work force in constant growth.
• Speed up data-entry and calculations.
• Organize data exchange with remote construction sites.

Constraints:

• The solution had to be functional within 4 months, since our client was required not to change solutions in the midst of the fiscal year.
• The notorious complexity of labor legislation for the construction industry in Argentina.
• Construction sites in remote locations working with a variety of computers and operating systems, usually without Internet connection and, occasionally, without landline telephone.

Our Solution:

• A secure payroll system with a web interface, operable from any workstation in the company's intranet.
• User-friendly off-line data entry module easily deployed at each construction site.

Results:

• The system was developed and deployed within schedule despite the tight four month constraint.
• On site data collection is performed in an orderly fashion and allows timely payroll processing.
• Payroll calculation process is now fast enough that time for exhaustive controls is available.
• The need for the manual preparation of reports or for complex calculations was eliminated (unemployment fund, income-tax deductions).
